Rev. Aaron Roberts; Acts 9:1-22
Acts 9 introduces this series in two ways. (1) It introduces us to Paul, the main character in the second half of Acts. Paul’s dramatic conversion and apostolic calling provide the necessary background to understand his missionary journeys and the stories we will read throughout this series. (2) It introduces us to the theme of salvation in the name of Jesus. The Lord says to Ananias: “Go, for [Paul] is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.” Paul was chosen to carry the name of Jesus to all peoples, the only name given by which we must be saved. In the rest of the series we will witness how God works through Paul and his companions as they fulfill this calling.
